Organ Restored

Organ Restored

Generously funded by former church members, the overhaul and restoration of the fine Dalladay pipe organ at Walmer Baptist Church has been completed.

Specialist organ builders F.H. Browne of Stourmouth (formerly of Ash) spent almost 5 months painstakingly removing, cleaning, replacing and tuning in excess of 800 pipes. The instrument has not been played for almost 20 years and in order for the pipes to sound a new blower unit, attached to the bellows, had to be installed.

The organ, installed in 1924, replaces the first organ which came from the Nelson Street Baptist Chapel after temporary storage at Deal Baptist Church, Victoria Road.

There are plans for a regular series of Organ Recitals which will showcase the talents of local organists and help fund the upkeep and tuning necessary.

Anyone wishing to perform a recital should contact the Church office: church@walmerbaptistchurch.co.uk. Recital information will be posted at www.walmerbaptistchurch.co.uk
