News From March

Spring is here and we have been keeping busy at the Church, as have some special vistors to the Manse.
Vistors to the Manse Bird Box.
The Manse (Baptist speak for a vicarage) has a bird box fitted with a webcam which was given to Pastor Seyan. After much waiting we have been delighted by the arrival of a pair of blue tits and enjoyed their antics. Currently they are nest building; the male of the pair insists on bringing in straw, which his lady deems not good enough and promptly throws out. The nest is nearly done and we are hoping for the fluttering of little wings in the not-too-distant future. Watch for future updates here or on our Facebook page.
Defibrillator
We now have a working defibrillator on the Kelvedon Road side of the building, by the office door. The bright yellow cabinet is climate controlled and is lit at night; it has a combination that can only be accessed by dialing 999 and speaking to the emergency services.
Youth Group
We are in the early stages of beginning a new youth group at the Church, which we feel is something the local community really needs. So far there have been two meetings, one attended by two and the second attended by five. We are pleased to see see that the faithfulness and vision of the people starting it is being rewarded. 'Great oaks from little acorns grow.'
Spring Clean Work Day.
A group of friends from within the fellowship gathered one Saturday and helped with a wide range of neccesary tasks over the day, both in the building and in the grounds, pausing only for a buffet lunch at noon. Thank you to everyone who took part and made it an enjoyable day.
Lent Conversations
So far we have had two of our Lent conversations. Our first was with The Revd Paul Fermor, in his capacity as Deputy Senior Chaplain with the South East Coastal Ambulance Service. Paul shared about his life and faith as well as his work as a Chaplain to the Ambulance service. Our second session was with The Revd Dr Stephen Young, Deputy Priest in Ordinary to the Royal Household. Stephen shared about his faith journey, his life as a minister and his experiences with the Royal Family. We have one more conversation to come in April with Paul Henderson - Lay Minister, Walmer & Cornillo Benefice.
